When travelling through Puglia, you cannot fail to notice the long rows of grape-heavy vines that stretch off into the distance and make a riot of color. Puglia is one of Italy’s most fertile regions. The principal areas are Lecce, Martina Franca, Manduria and Salice Salentino. The flagship red grape is Primitivo, a distant cousin of California’s Zinfandel grape. Negroamaro is another fantastic red grape, very well appreciated also among the female world. You’ll also come across fantastic white wines in the hill areas of Puglia: Locorotondo D.O.C. white wine near the Valle Itria; Bombino bianco in the Castel del Montel area, Leverano and Salice Salentino DOC.
Stile Mediterraneo goal is to promote the very best wine makers from Puglia through wine events and winery tours. Our events are for wine lovers traveling on holiday to Puglia as well as experts, importers and restaurants owners.
We provide active and hands on programs: you won’t learn about Puglia wines in a room but in the vineyard with the oenologist. We organize tailor made wine tours and private visits of the best wineries. You will meet famous wine producers who will tell you about their family making wines for centuries. You will taste the best wines and explore the most beautiful countryside of Puglia. You will learn about the many different native vines of Puglia and the many different techniques, modern and traditional, of making excellent wines. You can experience the art of making wine from the grape harvest to fermentation in the barrels. Grape harvest tours are organized on request and from August to end of October.
We spend lots of time visiting wineries and tasting wines from Puglia and we like family owned wineries, who have a history of making high quality wine. Please contact us if you wish to suggest a winery and wine.
Stile Mediterraneo promotes the very best extra virgin olive oil producers through a variety of events and workshops we organize. You won’t learn about Puglia’s extra virgin olive oils in a room but side by side with the olive oil producers, in the countryside. You will learn everything about the native olives from Puglia and the different techniques of making extra virgin olive oils.
Our olive oil tours and sessions are private and tailor made. You will meet the best and the many diverse olive oil producers. You will visit the best and most ancient oil mills. You will taste from the light and fruity extra virgin olive oil produced in the Northern part of Puglia to the stronger and spicy extra olive oil produced in the Southern part of Puglia.
